Time: 12am~3pm, Sunday 27th May

Set against the backdrop of Brisbane's cityscape and the South Bank Parklands, these interactive images change dependent on the angle by which they are viewed. In turn the imagery of various landscapes within inner city Brisbane are incorporate into the dynamics of the image.

This collection of works investigates the notion of connection to place. The contrasts of freedom found in open landscape and the confinements of the built environment are juxtaposed in these acrylic canvases.

Combining photographic images of various urban and rural landscapes from around the world, we have created new locations that do not exist. Hand drawn imagery of signs, posts and buildings layered within the landscape represent the constraints within urban environments. Questioning if our connection to country is more prominent than our connection to the infrastructure we have created.

Event Reports:

Stop 2 was installed between 12 – 3pm on Sunday 27th May. Whilst many people proceeded to walk on by with a quick glance, the reward was with the people that actually did stop. From the 50 people that stopped to engage with the works in those three hours, all of them did so of their own free will. The audience stopped, took the time to read the artist statement and look 'through' the transparent works. Some even took photos and viewed the works numerous times.

We were conscious of the problems of interfering with traffic flow and so in order to encourage people to stay longer with the works we purposely we installed them in one of the smaller alcoves so they could take their time without feeling that they were obstructing others.
